More than a billion syringes, needles, and lancets are used in the United States each year. If they are not disposed of properly, these items - known as "sharps" - can cause serious injury to you and others. The rules and regulations regarding sharps disposal are different in towns and counties around the country. TheSavvyDieter.com makes it easy for you to be Green! Simply locate a convenient sharps disposal location near you by clicking on the following:
If your community does not have specific sharps disposal rules or a sharps disposal location near you, please follow these guidelines: Never throw loose sharps into the trash, whether at home or away from home. Never flush sharps down the toilet. Remove needles from syringes using the Clip&Stor™ Needle Clipper & Storage Device. Only needleless syringes may be tossed in your regular trash after the needle has been removed. When the Clip&Store is full, simply drop off at a local sharps disposal location near you. Do not put it in your recycling bin - because syringes, pen needles, and lancets are not recyclable. Never try to recap or clip a needle if it has been used by another person. This can lead to accidental needle sticks, which may cause serious infection. Never attempt to remove the needle without the Clip&Stor because needles could fall, fly off, or get lost and injure you and others.
